The latest design sneak peek is a studio in Marina Del Rey. The mission was to create a beachy style pad that also functions for doing voice over work. The client Sonny is a voice talent out of her home and having a sound booth is crucial. However sound booths are not beachy. I solved this design dilemma by adding a white linen curtain concealing this dark mass in the room. The curtain will add a soft calming style while lightening things up. Storage is always important in a small space, so I selected furniture that works double duty for storage. I finished the studio off with West Coast style art and accessories. All in all it’s a relaxing environment for her and her adorable mini doodle top play and work in. Here is the sneak peek…

Do you judge a book by it’s cover? I always do…it’s what all designers do. When accessorizing a shelf I often color code, arrange and stack to get the perfect bookshelf. When I saw what Thatcher Wine was doing with books to create masterpiece libraries..my jaw dropped. Just take a look at this video to see what I mean. Visit the Juniper Book website to see the customized set’s for purchase.
Beautiful custom sets…
If you have not visited the website Hunter’s Alley yet you must. It’s like visiting your favorite local flea market from the comfort of your home. Hunters Alley is where I go to find those unique vintage pieces to give that room a wow factor. It’s also the perfect place to create the details. Details like a coffee table layered with fun tchotchkes or a dramatic gallery wall above the sofa. Check them out you will be addicted.

I hope you all have a fun Spring filled weekend! Here are a few things you could try. I’m thinking about starting the small potted veggie garden.
#1 Who says you need a backyard to garden? Create a veggie garden on your deck or balcony using pots. See how HERE.
#2 Make cinnamon rolls. Design*Sponge says this recipe is the best.
#3 Give your living room chair a pop of color and character with this Paris map throw from Zulily.
#4 Add some bold abstract art to your office space. photo via Rowena Murillo
#5 Start to plan that kitchen update. Think cozy and livable…then contact me to design it for you. I love this Kitchen inspiration via Lonny.
I love any idea that re-purposes something old in a creative way. Finding old windows at a salvage store or flea market are a great way to give your bedroom style. This will also give the illusion of windows and working well in a small space. See more beautiful photography and styling like this at Kara Roselund.

Do you have a high ceiling in your Kitchen or Great Room? Is it just painted white and well kind of boring? A great way to add an upscale detail to your plain ceiling is with rustic wood beams. It looks awesome in modern spaces that need a little warmth or rustic charm. It’s a detail that will sell and put your home above the rest.
