Yea it’s that time of year again! Halloween is hands down one of my favorites. We are gearing up to carve pumpkins this week. We are going with the classic carving technique. My five year old has never done it this way before and it’s so much fun to scoop out the pumpkin mess. I love all the beautifully chic ideas that pop up on Pinterest. One of these days I’m going to venture out and try a more designer pumpkin. Right now I just love to Pinterrst scan the pumpkin eye candy of these fun ideas. They are so lovely I would hate to throw them away.
Happy Halloween All!

I’m always looking for ways to make my outdoor space a bit more festive come Fourth of July weekend. I love this idea via Martha Stewart to take red and blue striped fouta towels to make bolster pillows. Simply use an existing bolster pillow or purchase an insert at your local fabric store. Tie the towel around the bolster with fringes on the ends for a patriotic style pillow. When your done using it as a pillow you can take the towel to to the beach, pool or use as a tablecloth. Search for affordable fouta towels on Etsy.com.

Is your kid a climber? Then this is the d.i.y for you. Why hang just art on the walls when a climbing wall is so much cooler? I love this idea to create a climbing wall using plywood. This would be perfect in a bedroom, playroom or a wall in the backyard. I can envision making a girl version for my daughter with pink and white mountains. Building this out of plywood and adding the rock wall parts is a lot more cost effective than purchasing a play-set. This d.i.y. is fun, affordable and will save your furniture.

Nothing says Spring like Easter brunch. I just love all the table inspiration popping up on instagram. This post via Emily Henderson’s instagram really stopped me in my tracks. It’s simple yet says it all. I think you could pick up a lot of these items at Target to get the look yourself. Just mix peonies with your existing china. See the full Easter brunch table at Style by Emily Henderson. Add a few pastel and golden eggs to complete the look. Viola! Happy Easter!

Winter can be tough for some. I think Winter is what you make it. You really have to own and embrace it. The Danish are big on Hygge translation coziness. The Norwegians call it Koselig. These aren’t just words to the Nordic culture they are a way of life. These words define an atmosphere. It’s an experience you had in someones home. Here is an example. You just went ice skating on the frozen lake under the string lights (think Norman Rockwell). Then you are welcomed into your friends home to sit by the fire and sip on some hot tea or cocoa. I’m thinking some Bob Dylan “Girl from the North Country” plays in the background. This is “hyggeling” or “koselig”. So…are you wondering how to get this in your home this winter? Here are seven ways.
#1 Start with something to warm your tummy and send aroma throughout the house. How about a nice bowl of wild rice soup. recipe here
#2 Cozy sox and blanket are a must. The chunkier the better for both.
#3 Lot’s of layers on your bed. Oh and their is something about it being kind of messy and wrinkled that adds more cozy in my opinion. This is all Ikea!
#4 Get a great book and something warm to sip.
#5 A fire and lots of candlelight is a must. via seeking the south
#6 You must have a cozy oversized sweater to live in and wear out. via shopstyle
#7 Wherever possible find a place to create a cozy nook. Lot’s of pillows are the key. photo via the inspired room
Well I hope this helps you to embrace the winter storms ahead. Happy hyggeling!
