DIY Tuesday :: World Market Table Before & After

We have had this World Market coffee table for 11 years. We got it after we purchased our first home in Minnesota. I guess it has sentimental value to me. ┬áIt has held up very well I think that’s why we never replaced it. At times I wished it would just collapse to the ground forcing me to get rid of it. Then there were those first two years after having a baby that the coffee table was tucked away in storage. When I began looking to replace the table I was drawn to styles with mid-century modern hairpin legs. That’s when I thought let’s just remove the base to this table and add hair pin legs. So….that’s just what we did this weekend. I’m so happy with the result. Instead of cringing at my tacky coffee table I now smile. I’m also proud of myself for being a little thrifty. This transformation only cost $48. The 14″ legs were only $12 each. They even gave me a discount off that because it was Earth Day. What a great way to recycle something old simply by adding new legs. I purchased mine at and they came promptly in a few weeks. They are very sturdy and well made. So….the next time your end table, coffee table, dining table or desk needs an update…think hair pin legs. They will take an old furniture piece from lame to lovely. I think we may just get another 11 years out of this old table.
