In The Details :: Our Homespun Christmas

Our stockings and ornaments have been hung with care. Let the festivities begin! The older I get the more I appreciate a homespun style Christmas. I no longer want the perfectly color coordinated Christmas tree. I want a Christmas that celebrates tradition. I want the tree to be full of handmade ornaments from my Swedish and French ancestors. I want to set out things that have been made with my daughters little hands. The stockings must be the ones my husband and I eagerly dug our hands into as kids. To me the coziest Christmas is the one that reflects tradition and memories.  My Mom gave me a box this year full of handmade ornaments from Grandmothers, Aunts and Uncles. Many of them only join us for Christmas now in spirit. The aroma of their recipes throughout the house take us back to their kitchen. I try to recreate the Christmas decor and recipes that my Grandmother did. Here is a peak at the Scandinavian decor we put out each year.

What are your favorite traditions in holiday decor? What must you hang on the tree or mantel each year to make it officially Christmas or Hanukkah?

Xo, Annie
